1. Sounds are naturally louder

Wearing hearing aids in both ears increases the subjective perception of volume up to 10 decibels resulting in the need to give less volume than headphones.

2. Speech is clearer

The volume of speech is not sufficient to be understood. Speech needs to be as clear as possible and this can be achieved much better with the use of two hearing aids.

3. Better understanding of speech in a noisy environment

Using a hearing aid in a quiet environment can offer help but this help is much less in a noisy environment. The bilateral application of hearing aids increases the useful signal (speech) in relation to the noise (environmental sounds) resulting in easier communication.

4. Orientation of sounds

It needs to be understood that while our ears pick up sounds, these sounds are perceived and understood at the brain level. In other words, our ears are the organs that transmit sounds so that we can hear them from our brain. The human brain is designed to utilize information received from both ears in order to accurately determine the exact origin of sounds. Wearing only a hearing aid, the brain is unable to determine where the sounds are coming from, resulting in an increased risk of injury, for example, one feels that passing cars are only on the side wearing the headset.

5. More effective relief of tinnitus

The tinnitus is often associated with hearing loss. Research shows that the bilateral application of hearing aids offers greater relief from tinnitus. In cases of people whose subjective sense of tinnitus is very intense, the tinnitus may be covered with additional sound.

6. Hearing aids prevents further deterioration

Successful treatment of hearing loss depends on early diagnosis and treatment. The longer the brain does not receive the right stimuli, the less it will be able to distinguish sounds when hearing aids are applied. Research shows that it is important not only to treat hearing loss immediately but also to treat the problem immediately for both ears.

Even if it seems cheaper to buy a hearing aid, long-term research has shown that the immediate and long-term benefits far outweigh the investment in two hearing aids.
